From Factory Phnom Penh to AEON Mall Sen Sok City, KAWAII-CON 2024 transformed its venues into a vibrant celebration of Japanese and Cambodian culture, strengthening the friendship between the two nations over four spectacular days.
A Grand Opening with Distinguished Guests
KAWAII-CON 2024 kicked off on December 7 at Factory Phnom Penh, drawing an impressive 10,000 attendees over two days. Supported by the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, the event served as one of the largest cultural exchange festivals between Japan and Cambodia, fostering deeper connections and unforgettable experiences.
The opening ceremony welcomed esteemed guests, including H.E. Ek Buntha, Deputy Director General of Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. He praised KAWAII-CON for seamlessly blending Japanese pop culture, traditional arts, and Cambodia’s rich heritage, calling it more than just entertainment—a platform for cultural diplomacy and mutual understanding.
An Immersive Edo-Inspired Theme
JCI LAB President and event organizer Yang Fan introduced this year’s theme, inspired by the Edo period and the traditional art of Ukiyo-e, reimagined through a modern lens. The immersive venue design was crafted to bridge history with the present, providing attendees with a one-of-a-kind cultural experience.

A standout moment on December 8 was Lotus Dance Studio’s breathtaking performance, featuring seven-year-old rising star Hannah Bosba. She captivated audiences with:

KAWAII-CON 2024 Continues at AEON Mall Sen Sok City
Following the success of the first event, KAWAII-CON 2024’s second phase was held at AEON Mall Sen Sok City on December 14 and 15, featuring:
•Japanese magician JUNYA, who mesmerized the audience with his jaw-dropping illusions.
•Singer Billy Low, whose soulful voice created a warm and immersive atmosphere.
•Lotus Dance Studio’s return, captivating audiences with their elegant dance performances.
•The Phnom Penh Singers, who delivered a powerful and moving choral performance, uniting the audience through song.
